Health care professionals and first responders are uniquely situated to proactively identify and serve victims and survivors of human trafficking, a majority of whom are believed to have contact with a medical provider at least once annually. This training will equip participants with the skills needed to identify and respond to possible indicators of human trafficking that present in health care settings. A trauma-informed and victim/survivor-centered approach will be presented as the basis of patient care, as well as the foundation for the development of organizational response protocols.
