This course will present information for physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, and occupational therapy assitants with limited experience working with individuals after spinal cord injury, or those who would like a refresher on this material.
Day 1 (Friday afternoon/evening): 4:00pm - 7:00pm
Setting realistic goals for patients after spinal cord injury, managing issues related to living with a spinal cord injury, and a Round Table with community consumers.
Day 2 (Saturday): Session Electives 9:00am - 4:30pm
Session #1: The Ins and Outs of Bowel and Bladder Management (pun intended) or Roll with the Changes – mat/bed-based activities including rolling, positioning, long and short balance
Session #2: Just Another Day - ADL Training Ideas or I’ve Fallen and I CAN Get Up!
Session #3: Let’s Get Creative - Assistive technology Ideas or Roll with it - Power and Manual Wheelchair “Need to Knows”
Session #4: Within Your Reach - Upper Extremity Management Ideas or Put one Foot in Front of the Other- High Intensity Gait Training Ideas
