This event is funded through ReCAST II Mecklenburg, a SAMHSA-funded grant initiative.
Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST II) is a program within the Mecklenburg County Department of Public Health. ReCAST II is a 4 year SAMHSA funded program who’s goal is to create a more resilient Mecklenburg County by supporting trauma informed care in in the roots of the community, increasing access to quality mental health care, and supporting the work of community violence prevention. ReCAST II (Resilience in Communities After Stress and Trauma) - Order in the Court! Clinical Practice and the Courts
This training will utilize information from expert attorneys, as well as, knowledge from clinicians experienced with the courts. We will discuss how to write treatment summaries for court submission, how to handle a subpoena, and what to do if you are called to the stand. Particular attention will be given to managing clients and their families who are involved in high conflict custody cases and trauma informed advocacy regarding children who have experienced abuse.

    • Participants will learn what their rights and obligations are when it comes to requests for records
    • Participants will understand what to do and say if they are required to appear in court
    • Participants involved in child protective services and law enforcement will learn about the processes pertaining to the functioning of a child advocacy center
