Palliative Care Across the Continuum

Description

Palliative care should be provided as part of enhancing quality of care for patients with serious, life-limiting illness. The focus for these patients should not only be physical, but also social, spiritual and patient-centered, as goals of care and treatment options are discussed. As clinicians caring for patients across all settings of care, it is important to understand the impact of palliative care on quality of life for the patient, family, and caregivers. A palliative approach to those with serious illness can also have a significant impact on healthcare spending.
