This activity is designed registered nurses, health care technicians (CNA/Paramedics), and respiratory therapists working in the emergency department, intensive care unit, operating room, pediatric ward and rehabilitation settings. Physicians, EMS (EMT-P, EMT-1), pharmacists, social workers, physical therapists and occupational therapists are also included as trauma care requires a multidisciplinary focus.
This virtual based live webinar is jointly provided by Charlotte AHEC and Atrium Health Levine's Children Hospital, in collaboration with Carolinas Simulation Center, Mission Health, UNC Health Children's Hospital, Vidant Health Marynard Children's Hospital, and Wake Forest Baptist Health Brenner Children's Hospital.
Program Overview
Healthcare Providers benefit from understanding the scope, impact, and potential burden of caring for injured children and their families. Care can be complicated, time-sensitive, resource intensive, and financially significant. Enhanced understanding of the epidemiology and management of pediatric trauma helps to avoid select complications, minimize ICU and hospital length of stay, and leads to improved mortality for pediatric trauma victims. The focus of this conference is to provide the most current research-based practice and knowledge in a virtual simulation-based environment that will be interactive for all participants. Pediatric Trauma Experts from NC Pediatric trauma programs will be collaborating with educators from Carolinas Simulation Center to facilitate and debrief the simulations and provide participants a robust learning program. The goal of this experience is to improve outcomes of injured children across the spectrum of care.
