FAST APPROACHING
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a disease with significant health disparities including lack of access to high quality care. This activity will address gaps in recognizing effective practices for acute and chronic pain management and understanding the impact pain has on the lives of patients living with SCD.
We will discuss practical implementation of the latest clinical guidelines published by the American Society of Hematology for managing acute and chronic pain, as well as gaps in identifying reproductive challenges unique to patients living with SCD describing the benefits of incorporating fertility services into comprehensive care. We will be presenting available tools and resources for providers, as well as SCD patients and caregivers, for optimal daily disease and care management.
