Description

Trauma can be defined as any event that is perceived as terrifying or life-threatening, such as a car accident, physical or sexual assault, or combat exposure. For some people, a traumatic event can have a lasting impact on their mental health which may lead to PTSD, anxiety, depression, difficulty sleeping, and physical symptoms like headaches and nausea. Evidence-based treatment can help people heal and lessen the impact the trauma has on their lives moving forward.

South Piedmont AHEC has partnered with HOPEWAY to develop a series to discuss the topic of Trauma. This series will focus on gaining a better understanding of trauma by reviewing the diagnostic criteria for PTSD, clinical assessment tools, evidence-based treatment modalities, emerging approaches to trauma treatment and more. Clinicians will broaden their knowledge of trauma treatment while gaining additional tools to use in their own practice.

This activity is offered at no cost and is grant funded by HopeWay.
