Description

Clinicians and other service providers will gain a more comprehensive understanding of the syphilis epidemic, particularly in Mecklenburg County, and other parts of North Carolina as well as the impact of its resurgence and its interaction with the HIV epidemic. The Summit will emphasize approaches for the prevention and treatment of syphilis, including congenital syphilis, and the various stages of the disease as well as clinical and public health methods for preventing, identifying, diagnosing, treating, and monitoring syphilis in patients/clients.

This program is offered FREE OF CHARGE. However, REGISTRATION is REQUIRED through this South Piedmont AHEC website.
We advise early registration. Registration is available until July 31, 2024.

The Syphilis Prevention and Treatment Summit is funded by Mecklenburg County Public Health, with logistical support from the Academy for Population Health Innovation and the NC. Department of Health and Human
Services Communicable Disease Branch and jointly provided by South Piedmont Area Health Education Center.

Registration and Dinner will be held from 4PM to 5:30 PM.
The Conference will begin promptly at 5:30 PM.

Learner Outcome:
Participants will be able to apply knowledge gained from this program on early identification of at-risk populations and individuals for syphilis, the 1st and 2nd line treatments for early syphilis, and the importance of follow-up to assure cure and re-treatment if necessary, in their practice.
