Welcome to the NC AHEC RN Refresher Program!

If you're an RN registering for the NC AHEC RN Refresher Program and live in one of the following counties: Anson, Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Stanly, or Union, we are here to help! South Piedmont AHEC is your regional AHEC and will be a local resource to support you throughout the RN Refresher Program.

Our flexible program, approved by the NC Board of Nursing, consists of the Nursing Review for Registered Nurses Online Course at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing and a 140-hour clinical practicum managed by your local AHEC. For active RNs, the clinical practicum is optional.

Payment Information
Administration Fee: $125.00 (Pay here)
Course Tuition Fee: $675 (Pay on the course website provided by your RN Refresher Coordinator)
Clinical Fee: $250.00 (Pay here at the time of clinical)

Objectives

  • Utilize principles of contemporary nursing, evidence-based practice and technology when providing patient care.
  • Function within the legal and ethical aspects of nursing using knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
  • Provide effective nursing care utilizing the institution’s care delivery model.
  • Use the Nursing Process to plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care.
  • Integrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology, common diagnostic studies and pathophysiology of common disorders when providing patient care.
  • Use knowledge of nursing implications when administering medications, maintaining fluid balance and providing nursing care.
  • Use quality and safety principles to communicate, manage, and create a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Incorporate patient care needs, consider culture and safety when caring for patients including a dignified death.

Objective(s)
