Description

This training is brought to you in partnership between South Piedmont AHEC and North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services.

Understanding effective communication with individuals who have cognitive deficits is crucial for healthcare workers in skilled nursing facilities. Cognitive deficits, such as those caused by dementia, can significantly impact a person's ability to understand and express themselves. Mastering communication techniques helps healthcare workers connect with residents, ensuring their needs are met and enhancing their well-being.
Effective communication reduces frustration and anxiety for both residents and staff, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment. It also improves the quality of care by ensuring important information is accurately conveyed and understood.
