This knowledge-based conference will provide LPNs from different practice settings the information and strategies to maximize their important role on the health care team and enhance their professional practice.

This educational event is jointly Provided by Northwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC), a program of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and by South Piedmont AHEC. Both are part of the NC AHEC System.

Objectives

  • (Thompson) Discuss the scope of practice and role of the LPN in North Carolina, including key responsibilities and legal boundaries in nursing.
  • (McInerney) Define vaccine hesitancy and its determinants.
  • (McInerney) Describe the role of nurses in addressing hesitancy.
  • (McInerney) Apply evidence-based communication strategies (presumptive approach, motivational interviewing, prebunking).
  • (McInerney) Identify educational tools and resources to support practice.
  • (McInerney)Practice applying strategies in case scenarios.
  • (Srouji & O'Day) Identity fall risk factors through use a home safety checklist.
  • (Srouji & O'Day) Describe one evidence-based community resources for fall prevention program.
  • (Fink) Outline the academic and clinical requirements for LPNs pursuing RN licensure.
  • (Brewer) Explore practical self-care techniques to enhance personal and professional resilience.
