Description

Today's youth are constantly bombarded by violent social media content, even when they are not looking for it. Messages range from graphic real-life shootings from far-off places, to menacing threats from right around the corner. These can be real sources of stress and anxiety for youth and ones that significantly shape their views on, and responses to, violence.

This year's conference focuses on this intersection between social media and youth violence, helping conference participants to better appreciate the potential dangers of overexposure to violence social media. Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, and breakout sessions, educators, caregivers, professionals, and peers will acquire practical skills and strategies that can be immediately employed to help youth build resilience and successfully navigate not only social media, but the "real world" around them as well.
