How many times have you heard, “my child is always on their phone,” or get asked the question, “How can I make my child get off their phone?” when talking with parents about their teenager. Or how frequently does your teenage client check their phone before, during, and after session? Chances are, if you work with parents, adolescents, and/or children, you are inundated with thoughts and feelings towards technology use. This presentation will take a deep dive into typical technology use among today’s teenagers and the culture behind that use. We will identify when technology use crosses the line into addiction, explore strategies for teens with problematic technology use, and share strategies to aid parents of teens who use technology.
