Target Audience

For professionals with organizational management or leadership responsibilities across a variety of fields, including public health, health care, education, social services, business and public service, or anyone who is interested in learning about quality improvement methodology, trying to create or revamp a program, or developing new trainings.

Description

This hands-on workshop frames leadership in public health as a dynamic, lifelong journey shaped by reflection, cultural humility, and learning through experience. Participants will explore leadership not only as a position but as the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive equity-focused change. Using case studies, self-reflection, and group dialogue, attendees will leave with practical strategies to strengthen leadership skills at any career stage and across diverse public health settings.

  • Summarize John Maxwell’s Five Levels of Leadership as a framework for growth
  • Reflect on their personal leadership journey and identify areas for development using Daniel Goleman’s Six Leadership Styles
  • Recognize core competencies for effective leadership, including emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and systems thinking
  • Apply strategies to nurture leadership in themselves and others, drawing on Ten Practical Tips
