Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) affect many people. However, they may impact autistic individuals differently. This program will provide an overview of ACEs and review how ACEs can have an ongoing impact on an individual throughout their lifespan; it will emphasize possible differences in symptom presentation – based on autism alone, versus autism and developmental trauma. We will utilize case examples to apply concepts and provide feedback. In addition, there will be an overview of strategies for working with autistic individuals who have mental conditions resulting from Adverse Childhood Experiences.
