This program is a hybrid with both onsite and webinar attendance options as follows:

Option 1: Attend ONSITE | Entire Day (6 hours of credit)
Option 2: Attend ONSITE | Morning Session only (3 hours of credit)
Option 3: Attend VIRTUALLY | Morning Session only (3 hours of credit)
Option 4: Attend ONSITE | Afternoon Session only (3 hours of credit). **NO VIRTUAL OPTION for the Afternoon Session.

Because of the interactive nature of the afternoon session, there will not be a virtual option for the afternoon session. Participants need to attend ONSITE.

Pharmacy Forum of North Carolina is a network for and led by ambulatory at session.clinical pharmacists with an ongoing goal of providing networking, collaboration, and educational opportunities for likeminded pharmacists in North Carolina with an emphasis on practical ambulatory care topics and unmet public health needs. In addition to providing networking opportunities for ambulatory care pharmacist, this application-based CPE activity will provide the pharmacist with clinical practice updates on a variety of topics.

The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The program ACPE#0046-9999-24-015-L01-P (Pharmacist) provides 3.0 contact hours of containing pharmacy education credit from 8:30AM to 12Noon. The program ACPE#0046-9999-24-016-L01-P (Pharmacist) provides 3.0 contact hours of containing pharmacy education credit from 1PM to 4:30PM 1 To receive CE credit, you must complete the CE attendance form and the evaluation of the program. Statement of credit can be viewed and printed in CPE Monitor. Statements of CE Credit will be processed in approximately 2 to 3 weeks.

Objectives

  • Define steatotic liver disease (SLD) including classification, pathogenesis, and diagnosis (Warren)
  • Apply evidence from guidelines and primary literature to support therapeutic recommendations for patients with SLD (Warren)
  • Discuss clinical pearls pertaining to select medications commonly used for the treatment of HTN (Little)
  • Review unique considerations for HTN management in special populations (Little)
  • Recognize when to look for causes of resistant HTN and determine what tests to order, keeping in mind biases in patient selection (Little)
  • Underscore the importance of choosing appropriate dosing (Little)
  • Provide an overview of renal denervation (Little)
  • Share insights into a pharmacist-run HTN program (Little)
  • Describe the etiology of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (Osborne)
  • Outline the pathophysiology of RA (Osborne)
  • Summarize available treatments for RA (Osborne)
  • Explain the pharmacologic approach to treating RA (Osborne)
  • Compare and contrast varying recommendations for updated LDL targets (Tungate)
  • Review current available non-statin lipid treatments including bempedoic acid, PCSK9 inhibitors, and incliseran (Tungate)
  • Discuss the role of Lp(a) in assessing and treating hyperlipidemia (Tungate)
  • Identify social determinants of health that impede the management of lipids (Tungate)
  • Describe the role of non-pharmacists in supporting ambulatory care pharmacy practice and population health (Panel 1).
  • Compare and contrast available CGM devices (Panel 1)
  • Discuss report features related to the most popular CGM devices (Panel 1)
  • Identify problems that may limit access to data (Panel 1)
  • Describe coverage and cost of CGM devices (Panel 1)
  • Describe best practices incorporated across the state to utilize non-pharmacists in ambulatory care pharmacy and population health.(Panel 2)
  • Summarize national guidance and literature on the use of non-pharmacists in ambulatory care pharmacy and population health (Panel 2).
  • Discuss the impact of non-pharmacists on medication access and healthy equity. (Panel 2)
