Advances in pharmacology and growing awareness of age related physiologic changes have significantly shaped how medications are prescribed, monitored, and deprescribed in older adults. This interdisciplinary presentation reviews key updates in geriatric pharmacology, including changes in drug safety guidance, polypharmacy management, and age specific risk considerations. Emphasis is placed on practical, team based approaches to optimizing medication use while minimizing adverse outcomes in older adult care.

Speaker:
Tammy Arms, PhD, DNP, CNE, PMHNP-BC, A-GNP-C
Dr. Arms is a Professor in the School of Nursing, in the college of Health and Human Applied Services at UNCW. She has been faculty at UNCW since 2013 and taught part-time clinicals for a year prior to that. Dr. Arms is an Adult/Geriatric primary care and psychiatric mental health care across the lifespan nurse practitioner. She has both, a research doctorate (PhD) and a clinical doctorate (DNP) degree. She maintains clinical practice in addition to her full time faculty position. Dr. Arms teaches in the DNP graduate program.

Registrants cancelling between two weeks and five full business days prior to the first day of the event are "refunded at 70% of the registration fee subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee."
No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than five full business days prior to the event.
