Objectives

  • Understand the Science of Self-Care: Describe how diet, exercise, and stress management mitigate cardiovascular risk and serve as a foundation for sustainable leadership.
  • Assess Personal Wellness Habits: Use a simple self-evaluation tool to identify current strengths and gaps in lifestyle behaviors.
  • Develop an Individualized Action Plan: Draft a 30-day kick-start roadmap incorporating at least one dietary shift, one movement habit, and one stress-reduction practice.
  • Link Wellness to Emotional Presence: Explain how balanced lifestyle choices modulate mood, empathy, and communication in high-pressure healthcare settings.
  • Practice Heart-Centered Communication: Role-play brief “compassion huddles” that model active listening, appreciative feedback, and kindness.
  • Co-Create Team Wellness Agreements: Facilitate small groups to establish shared norms—such as micro-break check-ins or peer support rituals—that reinforce well-being and connection.
  • Connect Purpose to Performance: Articulate how self-care and compassionate leadership translate into measurable improvements in productivity, engagement, and patient wellness.
  • Design a Wellness-Infused Leadership Initiative: In pairs, outline a pilot program (e.g., “Healthy Shift Start,” “Lunch & Learn Movement Breaks”) to roll out within your department
  • Commit to Accountability & Measurement: Define two key metrics (e.g., team engagement score, reduction in missed breaks, patient experience rating) and a simple tracking mechanism to assess impact over the next quarter.
